What is the difference between the old and new PMP Exam Syllabus?

The domains within which the PMP course is structured, has been overhauled as per below:-

Initiating (13%)

People (42%)

Planning (24%)

Process (50%)

Executing (31%)

Business Environment (8%)

Monitoring & Controlling (25%)

Closing (7%)

The new syllabus shall focus on three main domains, people, process and business environment.

Each of these domains are then further divided into Tasks (what we project managers do) and Enablers (the actions we take to complete the tasks) are defined by the Role Delineation Study. An example can be seen below:-

Domain: Process

  • Domain: Defined as the high-level knowledge area that is essential to the practice of project management.
  • Tasks: The underlying responsibilities of the project manager within each domain area.
  • Enablers: Illustrative examples of the work associated with the task. Please note that enablers are not meant to be an exhaustive list but rather offer a few examples to help demonstrate what the task encompasses.
